My door goes down and comes straight back up. Where do I start?

Look at the two small units at the bottom of the door tracks. Clear anything in front of them, wipe the lenses, and check that both indicator lights are steady. A ridge of dust along the floor is enough to break the beam. If the lights stay off or keep blinking after that, the alignment, the wiring or the units themselves need checking.

Do garage door sensors fail in the heat?

The units are fairly robust, but their wiring and mounting are not. Summer temperatures in a closed garage make the thin sensor wire brittle and the plastic brackets sag, which slowly drops one eye out of line. Low afternoon sun shining straight into the receiving eye can also stop a door closing at the same time every day.

Why did my keypad stop working after a battery change?
